Freezeserve needed a warehousing solution that would replace an existing SAP-based system and also integrate with their existing IT and automated cold store structure. A pallet storage-based system was required to manage the movement of goods both in/out and within the warehouse. The system also needed to manage orders from a central application and also offer real-time barcode scanning. This unique feature enabled warehouse staff to scan pallets, assist in processes like putaway and picking, and also track the movement of stock within the warehouse.
Freezeserve’s clients would also need access to view information on the stock held. Staging locations would be used both for goods in and goods out; these are areas for temporary storage before putaway or dispatch.
Pallets would need to be picked by batch number at request and also by product code, including case picking by a picking algorithm.
The overall aim was to provide one solution that will serve multiple clients and improve efficiency in the warehouse. In addition, the system must provide reports on stock holding for invoicing purposes. Other required functions included optional two-step putaway and pick, automatic importing of orders to reduce manual input, quarantine of stock, rework, shipments and 3rd party transport information.
